About Me...

Remembrance Assembly

There was an assembly this week to remind us of why we wear poppies at this time of year.

Ever since the first Remembrance Day, people have followed the same tradition: every year on 11th November they stop for a short moment of silence and reflection. Poppies became used as a way to remember soldiers who died in battle, because of how the flowers sprung up and grew on the barren battlefields of World War One.

Did you know that Jelly Babies were introduced in 1918 to celebrate the end of war? Back then, they were known as ‘Peace Babies’ They each have a symbol on them which stand for different things to do with peace.

WOW Challenge Begins!

WHAT IS WOW?

WOW IS LIVING STREETS’ YEAR-ROUND WALK TO SCHOOL CHALLENGE

Pupils record how they get to school each day on the interactive WOW Travel Tracker and those who walk (skate, scoot, cycle or Park & Stride!) at least once per week for a month are rewarded with a themed badge. It’s that easy!

Jane from Living Streets came in to explain to the children all about WOW. The school council then met with her to find out how to complete the online tracker in their classes each day.

A Visit From Former Liverpool Players

Children and parents were surprised when Liverpool legends from the Former Liverpool Players Association, Alan Kennedy and Ian Callaghan, visited our nursery, along with representatives from the Merseyside Children’s Fund. They were there to present a cheque for money which they have kindly donated to help decorate the nursery.
