Winter Wonderland Christmas Project

Christmas in my home – Christmas in my country;

In many countries, Christmas may be celebrated slightly differently.

Different countries have different Christmas traditions. Some countries don’t celebrate Christmas as we do in the UK. For some it is just a festive season.

Do you celebrate Christmas differently than English children?

Tell us about your Christmas traditions via art. It can be done by painting, drawing, sketching, printing and many more.  Describe your piece of art in your finest handwriting for our winter wonderland displays.

Our walls and website are waiting!

Please bring your finished work to school by Thursday 3rd December 2020.

Children in Need

Children in Need Day!

The children had a wonderful surprise when they arrived at school today. Everywhere was covered in spots. We all had a terrific day celebrating and raising money for the BBC Children in Need Appeal. The children have enjoyed many activities on the following themes: Mindfulness – Cosmic Kids Yoga, Get active – Joe Wicks workout, Be curious – Children tried a new activity, sport or food, Give – All children took part in a PSHE lesson which explored the work that Children in Need do to support children.

Michaela from Apple of my Eye delivered themed cookery lessons in which the children made spotty biscuits, spotty cheese cake and spotty kebabs.  Children in EYFS made some spotty hats, spotty pictures, spotty biscuits and went on a Pudsey hunt around their outdoor environment.

Thank you for your kind donations.

We have raised a fantastic £293.36

Together we can change lives!

Dojo Winners!

Well done to our children who won awards for their class dojo efforts this term. You have done a fantastic job!

Attendance is important to us at Monksdown.

We know that some absences are unavoidable. Please make every effort to send your child to school each day.

We must work together to ensure our children are in school as frequently as possible.

After half-term, we are going to be introducing the Monksdown Mouse!
The class in each Key Stage with the highest percentage of attendance, will receive a cuddly mouse to take care of for a week and a white chocolate mouse each!

Please try your best to attend every day!

Harvest

We have had a great harvest this morning! All the children have brought in some food that will be donated to those who need it most.

We have also had an assembly hosted by Rev Poppy Thorpe of the Church of the Good Shepherd and we watched ourselves perform a harvest song as a whole school through pre-recorded class videos.

Bikeability

The children in year 5 have been out and about on their cycles as part of their Bikeability training. They have been learning about proper road safety, along with when and how to safetly dismount from a bike on the road.
