Welcome to Year 1 Class 3 (Mrs Balmer)
Our teacher is Mrs Balmer. Our teaching assistant is Mrs McGlinchey.
Week of 20/01/2020: 1.3 sorted leaves, we decided which were deciduous and evergreen. Then we looked at different shapes and textures.
Week of 25/11/2019: 1.3 have had a busy art week already. We have learnt about drawing different shapes, shading pictures, mixing primary colours and exploring the artist Kandinsky.
Week of 18/11/2019: 1.3 made Pudsey buns to celebrate children in need day. We had a great time.
Week of 22/10/2019: 1.3 performed lowrider on ukulele and percussion instruments in our Arts Assembly.
Week of 22/10/2019: 1.3 explored a range of resources to find out which would make the best fastener for a coat for our teddies. We recorded our results identifying which was the best.
Week of 15/10/2019: 1.3 have been learning to sing Lowrider, and have been playing percussion instruments and ukulele in time to the music.
Week of 15/10/2019: 1.3 used iPads to simulate a Beebot and navigate a map successfully. We used the Beebots last week to get used to them, and next week we will be using them to navigate a real map!
Week of 15/10/2019: 1.3 The children made their own number track, then practised adding numbers to 10 by jumping on the right amount of steps

Week of 10/10/2019: 1.3 have been learning to clap in time as well as tap and strum a ukulele in time to the song ‘Lowrider’. We have been having fun making the sounds of a car in between the spoken lyrics.

Week of 01/04/2019: It’s a busy day at the Monksdown car wash. Lots of bikes and scooters are out on the road today

Week of 03/03/2019: RG have had a very busy week this week. On Tuesday we wrote instructions “how to make a pancake” then made pancakes and had a go at pancake tossing. On Thursday we celebrated world book day. We enjoyed learning about a new book “Tuesday” by David Wiesner. We all dressed up as frogs just like in the story.
Week of 03/03/2019: RG love phonics and guided reading. We do it every single day!
Week of 11/02/2019: RG had a fantastic day at Croxteth Park on their winter walk. We noticed that all of the leaves on our favourite tree had gone. To warm up we had a hot chocolate before going to play amongst the trees. We had a lovely picnic for our lunch and finished off our day playing on the slides. We are already looking forward to our spring walk.

Week of 04/02/2019: RG celebrated Chinese New Year by making Chinese lanterns and decorating dragons. We had great fun reading “The Story of Nian” about a strange and ugly beast who lived in the mountains. The beast is scared of loud noises and the colour red. So decorate your doors red and bang your drums!
Week of 28/1/2019: The children in RG have been learning the story of Little Red Riding Hood using the Talk For Writing approach. Today we made cakes for Little Red Riding Hood to take to Grandma’s house.
