Monksdown Primary School

Early Years Foundation Stage

SCHOOL NOTICES:

Learning Environment

Our Foundation Stage environment supports every child’s learning, through planned and child initiated activities that are both challenging and achievable.

The rich and varied indoor and outdoor environments support the children’s learning and development.

The children learn through purposeful play with a balance of adult led and child initiated activities, with the aim to maintain focus on learning during both. Children learn in whole class and small groups, short adult led activities, and self chosen activities both indoors and outdoors.

Positive Relationships

We encourage children to become independent, confident and to feel safe and secure within the classroom. The children will form positive relationships with their peers and with caring, approachable and knowledgeable staff who will support all aspects of the children’s learning development and well-being.

At Monksdown we encourage and help children to develop at their own pace in many different ways. We treat each child as a unique individual and we support and encourage them to become resilientcapable and confident learners.

We are a Nationally recognised Healthy School and regard children’s health as an important factor in a child’s development and their well-being. We encourage healthy practices as part of our daily routine.

Play is a vital part of a child’s development, we encourage children to play, explore and discover through a variety of physical and mental tasks.
