Free School Meals

Given the current economic position and number of increased redundancies, some children may become eligible for FSM after schools have closed for the summer.  The message below  – advises what a parent should do if they become eligible for FSMs during the summer holiday period. If your circumstances change and you think your child is eligible for free school meals after the schools close for the summer break you need to apply for FSMs using the link below

https://liverpool.gov.uk/communities-and-safety/emergency-planning/coronavirus/schools-and-education/free-school-meal-vouchers/

If you are eligible, you will receive a notification confirming this.  During school’s summer holiday period, you will be sent vouchers by Liverpool City Council on a fortnightly basis.

School Dinners

The current cost for a school dinner is £2 (per day, this may be subject to change) £10.00 payable weekly. Children must pay for their week’s meals in advance on a Monday morning.  Money or cheques (made payable to Monksdown Primary School) must be in  a sealed envelope marked with your child’s name and class.

Children from Reception to Year 2 (KS1) are entitled to a Free School Meal regardless of their families financial situation.  It is advisable that you still apply as other benefits may be available to your child.  To apply please visit:   http://liverpool.gov.uk/schools-and-learning/grants-and-funding/free-school-meals/

If you think your child is entitled to free school meals please visit:    http://liverpool.gov.uk/schools-and-learning/grants-and-funding/free-school-meals/

Please provide the school with the entitlement reference number.

Please ensure you have your award notification when we return to school in September, if your child is entitled to Free School Meals. If we do not have your award number we cannot supply your child with a free school dinner.

School meals are provided in the dinner centre in the Junior department.  There are several hot and cold alternatives to choose from for lunch and the children also have access to a salad bar.

All children are provided with a drink with their lunch, infant pupils are entitled to a carton of milk and a piece of fruit on a daily basis.

Our Menu

Week 3 Week commencing 14

Children who Go Home for Dinner

Infant children leave at 12.00pm and should not return until 12.50pm

Junior children leave at 12.35pm and should not return until 1.25pm

Packed Lunches

Children may bring packed lunches which are eaten in the dining area.  These should be in a plastic box with the child’s name on it.  Drinks should be in plastic containers not glass bottles.

We always encourage children to adopt a healthy lifestyle and to support this we would ask you to provide a balanced lunch.  Sweets and chocolates are not allowed at all in school, even as part of a packed lunch.  A piece of fruit is a much healthier alternative.
