Autumn 2020

Month of 12/2020: As part of our science topic on light, we looked at how periscopes work and made our own.

Month of 12/2020: Christmas party fun in 6.1 Building ‘snowmen’, the After Eight challenge and lovely party food.

Month of 12/2020: We have been practising using watercolours to create different effects.

Month of 12/2020: We looked at the work of Kandinsky, then listened to Flight of the Bumblebee before creating our own artwork in response to the music

Week of 28/09/2020: In our P.E lessons we have been working on our fitness levels.

Week of 28/09/2020: This week we have been looking at how the shape of a bird’s beak will affect what, and how much, it can eat. We used tweezers as beaks and found out how much food the bird could eat in 10 seconds.

Week of 21/09/2020: 6.1 have enjoyed looking at how animals camouflage themselves. We’ve looked at collecting some ideas and trying our hand at sketching.

Week of 14/09/2020: Week of 14/09/2020: We have been learning to strum the C and G chords on guitar.

Week of 07/09/2020: 6.1 have been testing out their origami skills and using collage to create birds.

Week of 07/09/2020: Using paper folding to recap our work on equivalent fractions in maths.

Week of 08/03/2020: 5.1 have been working on guitars to produce a performance of ‘You Can’t Always Get What You Want’. They have been learning to play the C and G chords.

Week of 08/03/2019: 5.1 in their orienteering lessons in PE, following the clues to find the books, and unscramble the name of the mystery author.

Week of 01/03/2020: 5.1 spent a day learning about Anglo-Saxons with our visitor from ‘Portals to the Past’, we learned about who they were, life in Anglo-Saxon times and took part in a quiz.

Week of 01/03/2020: 5.1 dropping everything and reading during the week of World Book Day

Week of 01/03/2020: 5.1 learned all about how to live as an Anglo-Saxon and took part in many different activities to help us understand who they were.

Week of 02/02/2020: 5.1 showcased our out of this world science topic, Earthlings, in our class assembly this week.

Week of 26/01/2020: As part of our space topic – Earthlings – we visited the World Museum in Liverpool and took part in a workshop in the planetarium.

Week of 20/01/2020: In 5.1, we are looking forward to filling our proud wall using our new Selfie Sticks. We’ve made a great start with some abstract space art in the style of Peter Thorpe.

Week of 20/01/2020: 5.1 researching artist Peter Thorpe and starting to create a piece that ties into our Science topic of “Earthlings”.

Week of 13/01/2020: We started learning guitar this week! We are putting together a performance of Seven nation Army using the E minor chord.

Week of 13/01/2020: Getting back into the swing of T4W. Class 5.1 started their new English topic of Finding Tales this week.

Autumn Term 2019

Week of 25/11/2019: 5.1 working on team work with the LFC Foundation last week.

Week of 18/11/2019: Miss Bernia came into our class today to talk about anti bullying week and the children got an opportunity to voice their opinions.

Week of 18/11/2019: We are learning about cracking codes in Computing this half term as part of our “We Are Cryptographers” unit. Here is 5.1 sending messages to each other using Semaphore code.

Week of 12/11/2019: 5.1 putting the finishing touches on their Early Islamic Tiles as part of our history topic. This was done using metallic acrylic paint.

Week of 12/11/2019: 5.1 had to stick to a budget to plan a Bonfire party for the community. They made decisions on which fireworks to purchase and which food vendors to hire. We also calculated profit based on their decisions.

Week of 04/11/2019: 5.1 were hard at work with a mathematical investigation in class this week. They showed great resilience and teamwork throughout.

Week of 15/10/2019: Year 5 writing about their house.
