Great Home Singalong Challenge!
Great Monksdown Singalong!
To all children and staff! We would like as many of you to send us a video recording of yourself singing and performing Pinkfong’s Baby Shark! You can sing it with or without the music (or a karaoke version). Our hope is to then put them all together and get as many of our school members singing it on one big video!
Please then send your videos to us via:
- Twitter (remember to add @monksdownmusic)
- Youtube link (and email the link to shark@monksdownprimary.co.uk)
- Email it direct to us (shark@monksdownprimary.co.uk)
We look forward to receiving your entries!

Key Worker (PRIORITY MESSAGE)
Monksdown Primary School is now a Childcare Hub for key workers as defined by Liverpool City Council on the link below:
https://liverpool.gov.uk/childcarehubs
Please check the criteria carefully to ensure that you qualify as a key worker.
If you have an adult at home even if you are a key worker your child must stay at home.
If you qualify for a place in a hub we are open on Monday 23 March from 9am to 4pm prompt.
If you are planning to bring your children to us please understand and be prepared for the following:
- when you arrive at school for the first time you will be required to complete a registration form which includes contact details, emergency contacts, medical info, allergies, dietary info, SEND needs etc. BE AWARE THIS COULD TAKE TIME ON MONDAY.
- your child needs to come in their own clothes with suitable coats to go outside.
- children are not permitted to bring any electronic equipment or mobile phones.
- If possible please provide your child with a packed lunch on Monday 23rd, following this parents can pay for a hot lunch; information to follow from the Hub.
- your child will be in a childcare environment, they will be playing games, doing craft activities, being outside etc. This is not an educational environment.
- your child needs to follow and respond to the Hub’s behaviour guidance; as it would be in the school they are currently enrolled in. The setting has the right to refuse entry to any child who does not follow the expectations of the Hub.
- parents will be asked to wait in a designated collection area when dropping off and collecting from the Hub to ensure the health of the staff.
- any child who is unwell will be sent home as quickly as possible.
WE HAVE A SET NUMBER OF CHILDREN WE CAN ACCEPT ON A DAILY BASIS. IF WE ARE FULL YOU WILL BE DIRECTED TO THE NEAREST LOCAL HUB SCHOOL.
We will be receiving an update from the Local Authority on a daily basis in response to local and national guidance. This will be updated on this page. There are 50 HUBS across the City, you can use the one which is best for you.
Below are links to national guidance and advice:

Support for families who are entitled to free school meals https://www.gov.uk/government/news/plans-set-out-to-support-pupils-eligible-for-free-school-meals
If you feel unwell you are encouraged you use the following NHS website rather than ringing 111 straight away http://111.nhs.uk/covid-19
Please be aware that we will not accept any unacceptable behaviour from any Parents or Carers. This is a national crisis and we have been requested to respond to this; remember we are all in this together!
Who is a key worker?
Health and social care
This includes but is not limited to doctors, nurses, midwives, paramedics, social workers, care workers, and other frontline health and social care staff including volunteers; the support and specialist staff required to maintain the UK’s health and social care sector; those working as part of the health and social care supply chain, including producers and distributers of medicines and medical and personal protective equipment.
Education and childcare
This includes nursery and teaching staff, social workers and those specialist education professionals who must remain active during the COVID-19 response to deliver this approach.
Key public services
This includes those essential to the running of the justice system, religious staff, charities and workers delivering key frontline services, those responsible for the management of the deceased, and journalists and broadcasters who are providing public service broadcasting.
Local and national government
This only includes those administrative occupations essential to the effective delivery of the COVID-19 response or delivering essential public services such as the payment of benefits, including in government agencies and arms length bodies.
Food and other necessary goods
This includes those involved in food production, processing, distribution, sale and delivery as well as those essential to the provision of other key goods (for example hygienic and veterinary medicines).
Public safety and national security
This includes police and support staff, Ministry of Defence civilians, contractor and armed forces personnel (those critical to the delivery of key defence and national security outputs and essential to the response to the COVID-19 pandemic), fire and rescue service employees (including support staff), National Crime Agency staff, those maintaining border security, prison and probation staff and other national security roles, including those overseas.
Transport
This includes those who will keep the air, water, road and rail passenger and freight transport modes operating during the COVID-19 response, including those working on transport systems through which supply chains pass.
Utilities, communication and financial services
This includes staff needed for essential financial services provision (including but not limited to workers in banks, building societies and financial market infrastructure), the oil, gas, electricity and water sectors (including sewerage), information technology and data infrastructure sector and primary industry supplies to continue during the COVID-19 response, as well as key staff working in the civil nuclear, chemicals, telecommunications (including but not limited to network operations, field engineering, call centre staff, IT and data infrastructure, 999 and 111 critical services), postal services and delivery, payments providers and waste disposal sectors.
If workers think they fall within the critical categories above they should confirm with their employer that, based on their business continuity arrangements, their specific role is necessary for the continuation of this essential public service.
If your school is closed then please contact your local authority, who will seek to redirect you to a local school in your area that your child, or children, can attend.
We are grateful for the work of teachers and workers in educational settings for continuing to provide for the children of the other critical workers of our country. It is an essential part of our national effort to combat this disease.
Letter to Parents (19/3/20)
Please find attached below a link for a letter to parents regarding Coronavirus.
School closing on Friday
Due to the announcement by Her Majesty’s Government on 18th March 2020, school will be closed to the general school community from Monday 23rd March 2020 onwards.
School has provided home learning packs for children. If your child has been off school this week and it is safe to do so, please try and make arrangements to pick up your child’s pack before closure.
Over the next two days discussions and announcements will be made by the government regarding school opening for children of key workers (which have not been defined yet) or children who have been identified as particularly vulnerable. We will publish information on this as soon as it is available.
The government is presently making arrangements to ensure those eligible for Free School Meals do not miss out on their eligibility. These arrangements have not yet been announced. We will also publish information on this as soon as it is available.
A re-opening date has not presently been announced. Please ensure you are signed up to our app so that you can continue to receive the latest updates from us.
